Yes, The Markets Were Open, But…

Nov 26, 2017 | Market Commentary

Friends

It was a painfully quiet day of trading. Other than reports/rumors that Apple’s iPhone X is not selling as well as expected (always take Apple rumors with a grain of salt, they are usually wrong), there was not much of consequence to discuss. Energy shares are trying to rally into year end and the news that it was a great Christmas selling season has the beleaguered retail sector perking up a tad. But mainly, folks are at home with the kids and grandkids and trading stocks takes a back seat.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 7 points to finish the day at 24,746. The S&P 500 was down 2 points to close at 2,680. Gold was up $8 to trade at $1,287 per ounce, while oil was up $1.33 to trade at $59.80 per barrel WTI.

I expect the rest of the week to be similar to today void of any real news. Traders seem content to put 2017 into the books and wait for the opening bell of 2018. We’ll let you know if anything interesting happens this week. In the meantime enjoy the week and hopefully your families.

Have a nice evening everyone.
