Stocks saw early triple digit Dow losses erased by the end of the trading session as market participants were mainly quiet as we wait for tomorrow’s jobs report. The analysts are looking for about 168,000 new jobs to have been created in September with the unemployment rate holding steady at 4.9%. though it is unlikely that the Fed will want to do anything before December, it will be interesting to see what stocks do if we have a real hot number.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 12 points to finish the day at 18,268. The S&P 500 was up 1 point to close at 2160. Gold was down $13 to trade at $1,255 per ounce, while oil was up $.63 to trade at $50.46 per barrel WTI.
As mentioned we get the non-farm payroll number tomorrow and then we’ll begin to wade into earnings season over the next few weeks. We’ll let you know how tomorrow’s action unfolds after the jobs number.
Have a nice evening everyone.
