Unusually Quiet Day

Feb 11, 2015 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks drifted aimlessly for most of the trading session, which was unique in that it did not include the wild volatility that we have seen since 2015 began. Traders seemed mostly uninterested as there was no real market moving type news to actually act upon. Yes, we are waiting for news out of Greece, and the President did call on Congress to ramp up the fight against ISIS, but there were no real economic developments today.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 6 points to finish the day at 17,862. The S&P 500 was mostly unchanged, closing at 2068. Gold was down $12 to trade at $1219 per ounce, while oil was down $.78 to trade at $ $49.24 per barrel WTI.

We’ll get weekly jobless claims and retail sales data tomorrow, and there are a few more important corporate earnings numbers to devour, but this week looked to be quiet on the news front, and stock trading looks to be reflecting that so far. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Have a nice evening everyone.
