Looks like there could be a deal! The Republicans need to bring a serious offer to the table! The Democrats have not offered one serious spending cut!
Are you getting tired of these proclamations every couple of hours? Do we really expect the politicians to get in front of cameras and give away their negotiating positions? By the way, can someone please explain to me why the politicians have to get in front of cameras every five minutes to give us “updates”? Take your time, I can wait.
The markets seem to react to each and every one of these pronouncements. It can make you dizzy if you watch it all day long. The best thing for all of you to do is just ignore it until they actually come to some conclusion. As the saying goes, until then, the markets will have more movements than a shortstop who hits .150.
As for stocks, after the politically fueled gyrations, the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day with a gain of 36 points, to close at 13,021. The S&P 500 was up 6 points to close at 1415. Gold was up $9 to trade at $1725 per ounce, while oil was up $1.32 to trade at $87.81 per barrel WTI. If the bulls can get the S&P to close above 1419 they just might have something to work with.
At least tomorrow is Friday. Do the politicians stop talking on weekends? Oh, I forgot about the Sunday morning talk shows. Those should be fun.
Have a nice evening everyone.
