Stocks Weak Into Nvidia Earnings

Aug 28, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Market participants seemed pretty nervous before the much-anticipated release of Nvidia’s earnings report after the close today. Stocks were in the red for the entire trading session as the bulls decided to take a wait and see stance before committing any new money today.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 159 points to finish the day at 41,091. The S&P 500 was down 33 points to close at 5,592. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 198 points to close at 17,556. Gold was down $11 to trade at $2,541 per ounce, while oil was down $.79 to trade at $74.75 per barrel WTI.

Nvidia is likely to affect the entire market tomorrow and your guess is as good as mine as to which direction things may swing. Whatever happens, we’ll be here to let you know how it all plays out. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
