Stocks Take A Breather

Jun 4, 2020 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks tried to post a fourth straight day of gains for the week, but seemed to finally run out of gas later in the trading session. Well, the Dow actually snuck back into positive territory right at the close, but the S&P remained in negative territory.  Once again, the weekly jobless claims was horrendous, but we know that investors have accepted that reality for the moment and have chosen to look to the future with rosier colored glasses.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 11 points to finish the day at 26,281. The S&P 500 was down 10 points to close at 3,112. Gold was up $17 to trade at $1,722 per ounce, while oil was down $.17 to trade at $37.12 per barrel WTI.

Still, the market looked a little tired today. We get the jobs report tomorrow, and it will surely be a mess, but let’s see how stocks react and finish the week.

Have a nice evening everyone.
