Stocks Start The Week On A High Note

May 6, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks traded firmly in positive territory for the entirety of today’s trading session as last week’s late rally continued into the new week. Nasdaq was the biggest winner with big tech names leading the way.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 176 points to finish the day at 38,852. The S&P 500 was up 52 points to close at 5,180. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 192 points to close at 16,349. Gold was up $24 to trade at $2,332 per ounce, while oil was up $.45 to trade at $78.56 per barrel WTI.

With no real market moving headlines, stocks seem to move in the path of least resistance. We’ll see if that path is higher this week.

Have a nice evening everyone.
