Stocks Resting

Aug 8, 2018 | Market Commentary

Friends

It was another very quiet day of trading. The market averages were mixed and the trading volume was light. It is not unusual at this time of year as folks are on vacation before school starts again. Earnings season is mostly behind us and the Fed doesn’t meet until next month. The dog days of summer, indeed.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 45 points to finish the day at 25,583. The S&P 500 was down a fraction to close at 2,857. Gold was up $3 to trade at $1,221 per ounce, while oil was down $2.29 to trade at $66.88 per barrel WTI.

If it weren’t for the crazy things going on over at Tesla with Elon and the gang, the business news channels would not have anything to talk about this week. We’ll let you know if anything worthwhile develops.

Have a nice evening everyone.
