Stocks rallied again and today we saw a little more broadening out of the move. Fed officials continue to signal that their next move will be to lower rates, but that doesn’t appear likely to happen before the September meeting. Next up will be earnings season after we get a government job data release on Friday.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 162 points to finish the day at 39,331. The S&P 500 was up 33 points to close at 5,509. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 149 points to close at 18,028. Gold was up $1 to trade at $2,340 per ounce, while oil was down $.39 to trade at $82.99 per barrel WTI.
We have one more trading day before the July 4th holiday, but as was the case for the Union Army at Gettysburg on this day 161 years ago, the bulls hold the high ground.
Have a nice evening everyone.
