Stocks Push Slightly Higher

Mar 25, 2022 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks got off to good start at the open this morning, but as the trading session wore on, buyers seemed to disappear and the market averages drifted into negative territory by early afternoon. But, as we have seen lately, the bulls had a final kick left in them and moved stocks mostly higher by the close.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 153 points to finish the day at 34,861. The S&P 500 was up 22 points to close at 4,543. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 22 points to close at 14,169. Gold was down $7 to trade at $1,955 per ounce, while oil was up $.67 to trade at $ 113.01 per barrel WTI.

Once again bonds sold off as the 10-year Treasury Note traded near 2.50% in yield. Bonds have certainly had the bigger struggle over the past couple of weeks, but with the yield curve basically flat, they are sending a somewhat mixed message. It’s been a wild first quarter of 2022 and we still have 4 more trading sessions left. Let’s buckle up and see how things maneuver into the end of the quarter.

Have a great weekend everyone.
