Though there were a few missteps along the way, stocks had a pretty good day. Chair Powell was on Capitol Hill once again today, this time wrestling with the House Finance Committee members, which is exhausting to watch. I can’t imagine the patience the Fed Chair has to have dealing with these blowhards trying to put on a show for their constituents. Anyway, once again nothing earth shattering was muttered, and the stock market reacted with a collective sigh of relief.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 194 points to finish the day at 30,677. The S&P 500 was up 35 points to close at 3,795. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 179 points to close at 11,232. Gold was down $10 to trade at $1,828 per ounce, while oil was down $2.13 to trade at $104.06 per barrel WTI.
The markets have calmed just a bit in the last few trading sessions. Interest rates have come back down just a little, while stocks have eased a little higher. Let’s see how the week finishes out tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
