Stocks Mixed As Irma Nears

Sep 8, 2017 | Market Commentary

Friends

As Irma bears down on Florida, the markets seem to be somewhat on hold. While everyone keeps an eye on the storm, we’ll also hope that nothing disturbing happens this weekend with the North Korean situation. We’ll just have to stay tuned for all of it.

In the meantime, for the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 13 points to close at 21,797. The S&P 500 was down 3 points to finish the day at 2,461. Gold was up $2 to trade at $1,352 per ounce, while oil was down $1.54 to trade at $47.55 per barrel WTI.

As our city continues the cleanup process and strives to get back to normal, our thoughts will be with everyone in the path of Irma. It’s going to be a long weekend for many of our fellow citizens.

Stay Strong Houston
