Friends

The market averages were somewhat mixed today after yesterday’s rally, but good earnings news keeps rolling in. This morning Coca-Cola and General Motors both had good earnings releases and though less than 20% of the S&P 500 has yet to report, the ones who have mostly have beaten estimates.

For the day, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 218 points to finish the day at 46,924. The S&P 500 was up a fraction to close at 6,735. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 36 points to close at 22,953. Gold was down $238 to trade at $4,121 per ounce, while oil was up $.34 to trade at $57.86 per barrel WTI.

Until next week’s FOMC meeting, corporate earnings are likely to be the driving factor for stock prices in coming days. So far, so good.

Have a nice evening everyone.
