Friends
We are closing in on the end of the month, the quarter, and the first half of the year. Stocks have seemed to run out of gas as market participants appear reluctant to doing much before the quarter end. The big seven growth names were the losers today (they’ve been the big winners for the year to date) while the beleaguered Dow was the most stable but still unable to squeeze out a small gain after being nearly flat for most of the year.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 12 points to finish the day at 33,714. The S&P 500 was down 19 points to close at 4,328. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 156 points to close at 13,335. Gold was up $2 to trade at $1,932 per ounce, while oil was up $.36 to trade at $69.52 per barrel WTI.
I’m not expecting too much of consequence this week (so that probably means something big will happen) and would expect stocks to kind of drift into the quarter end on Friday. Let’s see how the week plays out. Stay tuned.
Have a nice evening everyone.
