Stocks added to recent gains once again today, as the post-election rally appears to have gained strength after pausing a bit the last week or two. As mentioned, recent economic data has been stronger, and sentiment appears to have improved dramatically since the election.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 65 points to close at 19,614. The S&P 500 was up 4 points to finish the day at 2,246. Gold was down $4 to trade at $1,172 per ounce, while oil was up $1.08 to trade at $50.85 per barrel WTI. Nat Gas was up $.0114 to finish trading at $3.717.
We know that next week we have an FOMC meeting which will likely result in a quarter point hike in the Fed Funds rate. Other than that, we’ll see if this rally can take us into the new year. First, let’s see how the week finishes out tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
