Stocks seemed to be experiencing a bit of a hangover from Friday’s jobs report fueled rally. There were a couple quick forays into positive territory, but for the most part the market averages spent the day in the red and finally gave back about a third of Friday’s gains.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 105 points to finish the day at 27,909. The S&P 500 was down 9 point to close at 3,135. Gold was down a fraction to trade at $1,465 an ounce, while oil was down $.21 to trade at $58.99 per barrel WTI.
After last week’s fireworks we now focus on a FOMC meeting (it’s not expected that the Fed would change interest rates at this meeting) and then the run up to the tariff deadline on the 15th. In the meantime, Impeachment proceedings continue in the House, but it’s hard to determine if they are having any effect on markets at all. We’ll be watching the week’s proceedings and let you know how it all plays out.
Have a nice evening everyone.
