Stocks Firmer as Quarter End Looms

The bulls are trying to mount a charge into quarter end. Stocks moved up modestly in today’s trading session as Nvidia helped Nasdaq lead the way. As we’ve mentioned, stocks aren’t cheap, but the bears just haven’t been able to mount a defense to higher share prices.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 68 points to finish the day at 46,316. The S&P 500 was up 17 points to close at 6,661. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 107 points to close at 22,591. Gold was up $48 to trade at $3,857 per ounce, while oil was down $2.53 to trade at $63.19 per barrel WTI.

After we get quarter end tomorrow, market participants will focus on Friday’s jobs report. Then in coming weeks will see the 3rd quarter earnings season unfold. Of course, all this while investors continue to obsess over what the Fed will do next. Should be some interesting weeks ahead. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
