Stocks Finish Week on a Quiet Note

Sep 20, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends,

It looked today like market participants were out of gas as markets were pretty quiet all in all. We’ve had a lot of economic data to chew on recently, and we’ve seen the Fed embark on a new path with monetary policy. A breather was warranted.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 36 points to close at 42,061. The S&P 500 was down 11 points to finish the day at 5702. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 65 points to close at 17,948. Gold was up $32 to trade at $2647 per ounce, while oil was down $.18 to trade at $77.18 per barrel WTI.

As we move towards the end of the quarter, the bulls continue to hold the high ground with reinforcements from the Fed and General Powell. We’ll be back next week to pick up the action. In the meantime…

Have a great weekend everyone.
