Stocks Finish Higher After Tariff Legalities Questioned by Courts

May 29, 2025 | Market Commentary

Friends

Both stocks and bonds were all over the place today as trade policy confusion clouds the waters. Market participants liked Nvidia’s results released after the market closed yesterday, but Federal Courts challenging the tariffs that the President has enacted confuses an already confusing situation even more.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 117 points to finish the day at 42,215. The S&P 500 was up 23 points to close at 5,912. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 74 points to close at 19,175. Gold was up $18 to trade at $3,313 per ounce, while oil was down $.90 to trade at $60.94 per barrel WTI.

Trading for the month of May will conclude tomorrow. It’s been a good month for the bulls. Let’s see if they can finish the month on a high note.

Have a nice evening everyone.
