Stocks Finish Good First Half Of The Year

Jun 30, 2021 | Market Commentary

Friends
It was a good finish to the quarter and first half of the year for the bulls. Though the NASDAQ didn’t participate in today’s move higher, the S&P and the Dow both tacked on some gains on this last trading day of June.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 211 points to finish the day at 34,503. The S&P 500 was up 5 points to close at 4,297. The NASDAQ Composite Index was down 24 points to close at 14,503. Gold was up $8 to trade at $1,771 per ounce, while oil was up $.52 to trade at $73.50 per barrel WTI.
I would guess that the market’s good first half of the year was a bit of a surprise to some folks. The challenges for the second half of the year will be are expectations now raised too high? We’ll talk more about the first half of the year in our quarterly outlook piece. In the meantime let’s gather ourselves and get ready for what is likely to be a very interesting second half of 2021.
Have a nice evening everyone.
