Stocks Drift Higher Into Christmas

Dec 23, 2021 | Market Commentary

Friends

As expected is was a very quiet day of trading. Stocks opened higher and it seemed like traders simply disappeared after that as the markets simply drifted into the close.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 196 points to close at 35,950. The S&P 500 was up 29 points to finish the day at 4,725. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 131 points to close at 15,653. Gold was $7 to trade at $1,809 per ounce, while oil was up $1.15 to trade at 73.91 per barrel WTI.

Officially the Santa Clause rally is the final 5 trading sessions of the year and the first 2 trading sessions of the new year. It appears that the little man in the red suit has some presents for the bulls in his sleigh giving the nice move higher we saw this week.

Have a great Christmas and we’ll talk to you next week.

Merry Christmas
