Stocks Continue Higher

Dec 22, 2021 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks were able to add to yesterday’s rally giving the bulls some holiday cheer as we head towards Christmas break. We have one more day of trading in this shortened holiday trading week, and unless there is some major news, it wouldn’t be a surprise if tomorrow we see some quiet action.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 261 points to finish the day at 35,753. The S&P 500 was up 47 points to close at 4,696. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 180 points to close at 15,521. Gold was up $16 to trade at $1,805 per ounce, while oil was up $1.73 to trade at $72.85 per barrel WTI.

Some of the daily volatility has come out of the stock market in the past few sessions. We have basically just sat about where we open and then drift the rest of the day. Let’s hope tomorrow is a quiet session leading into the Christmas break. That’s not too much to ask, is it? I hope you saw the Christmas greeting we sent out earlier this morning. If you missed it, the link is below.

Have a nice evening everyone.
