Small Rally

Friends

The bulls tried to rally the troops today, and indeed, stocks were higher, but by close most of the gains had bed been erased and market participants seemed uninterested. Trade war concerns continue to dampen enthusiasm which is a shame because earnings have been good and the upcoming 2nd quarter results are likely to continue that trend.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 30 points to finish the day at 24,283. The S&P 500 was up 6 points to close at 2,723. Gold was down $8 to trade at $1,260 per ounce, while oil was up $2.32 to trade at $70.40 per barrel WTI.

The momentum stocks did bounce back a little from yesterday’s thrashing, and energy names helped the market averages, but in the end there just wasn’t much enthusiasm from the buy side. Let’s see if the bulls take another crack at it tomorrow.

Have a nice evening everyone.
