As the market waits for new inflation data and a holiday released jobs report on Friday, stock buyers seemed to be biding their time. The market averages were lower but not in any meaningful way. We might just be in a spot where we drift into the quarter end.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 162 points to finish the day at 39,313. The S&P 500 was down 15 points to close at 5,218. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 44 points to close at 16,384. Gold was up $13 to trade at $2,173 per ounce, while oil was up $1.42 to trade at $82.05 per barrel WTI.
As I mentioned it’s a shortened trading week with markets closed on Good Friday. Maybe we are finally going to take a pause as market participants wait for more economic data and of course a new earnings season which will begin to unfold in a few weeks. In the meantime, we’ll see how this week plays out.
Have a nice evening everyone.
