Sloppy Start To The Week

May 17, 2021 | Market Commentary

Friends
It was a sloppy day of trading, but the bulls were at least able to minimize the damage by the close. There are a lot of cross currents that traders are having to deal with as sectors seem to fall out then back into favor on almost a daily basis.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 54 points to finish the day at 34,327. The S&P 500 was down 10 points to close at 4,163. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 50 points to close at 13,379. Gold was up $29 points to trade $1,867 per ounce, while oil was up $.93 to trade at $66.30 per barrel WTI.
We are going to get earnings reports and hear from major retailers this week. Let’s see what they have to say as we keep an eye on how the week unfolds.
Have a nice evening everyone.
