Remember 9/11

Friends

All of us who are old enough, remember everything about 9/11/2001. It was a day that started like any other, but was soon to turn into a nightmare that played out for most of us right on television. For those in New York City and specifically those who worked in the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, they were at the epicenter of the disaster (of course we don’t forget those who died at the Pentagon and in a field in Pennsylvania). But, for that moment we all were New Yorkers. We came together as a country and showed the world that we were resolute in our love for freedom and the “American” way. No one from the outside was going to take us down.

Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of that fateful day, but because it’s a Saturday, market participants were honoring those who passed and the heroes who saved lives today. It was remarkable to hear the stories from 20 years ago and the impact on people that will stay with them the rest of their lives. We will never forget. We should never forget.

And now, today, we face another major crisis in this country- this time a medical crisis. The pandemic, instead of bringing us together has instead been tearing us apart. Let’s hope we can rediscover the feeling of pride, purpose and togetherness we felt, if only briefly, twenty years ago. Yes, we find ourselves on different sides of the political spectrum, but let’s remember that we are all Americans and perhaps, just maybe, we could use this anniversary as a reminder that when we come together we are at our strongest and our best.

Remember 9/11 and God Bless America.
