Quietly Mixed

Apr 8, 2022 | Market Commentary

Friends
It was a mixed day for stocks. The Dow moved higher posting a nice gain by the close while the Nasdaq struggled in negative territory. There was not a lot of news for market participants to deal with, but that will change in the coming weeks as we roll into earnings season.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 137 points to close at 34,721. The S&P 500 was down 11 points to finish the day at 4,488. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 186 points to close at 13,711. Gold was up $9 to trade at $1,947 per ounce, while oil was up $2.15 to trade at $98.18 per barrel WTI.
As mentioned, we will have a good look at corporate earnings in the next few weeks and even more importantly, we’ll get commentary on what managements are seeing for the balance of 2022. Stay tuned.
Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy the Masters.
