Quiet Start To The Week

Jun 24, 2019 | Market Commentary

Friends

Well, after all the fireworks last week concerning the Fed and cutting interest rates, not to mention China trade talks and Iranian tensions, today was one of the quietest trading sessions of the year. Stocks traded slightly higher early in the session, but in the end simply coasted into the close on fumes.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 8 points to close at 26,727. The S&P 500 was down 5 points to finish the day at 2,945. Gold was up $22 to trade at $1,422 per ounce, while oil was up $.30 to trade at $57.73 per barrel WTI.

We have the G20 meeting later in the week, but in the meantime we’ll get economic data which will include home prices, new home sales, consumer confidence, durable goods, jobless claims, revised GDP and personal income and spending. So, there will be a lot to chew on this week on the economic front. Let’s see if the action picks up as the week proceeds.

Have a nice evening everyone.
