Jul 13, 2017 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks experienced a somewhat quiet day with a slight upward bias. Market participants are gearing up for earnings season with big banks Citi, J P Morgan and Wells Fargo reporting tomorrow. In other news, retailers other than Amazon finally had a good day fueled by Target’s comments that their upcoming earnings will be on the high side of analyst estimates.

As for the market averages, for the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 20 points to close at 21,553. The S&P 500 was up 4 points to finish the day at 2,447. Gold was down $2 to trade at $1,217 per ounce, while oil was up $.54 to trade at $46.04 per barrel WTI.

We sent out our 3rd quarter outlook earlier today. Clients will also receive a hard copy with your quarterly summary statement. Let me know if you have any thoughts about the piece.

Have a nice evening everyone.
