Nice Ending to the Week

Friend

With a three day weekend upon us, traders seemed to have checked out early. The economic news was less than thrilling this morning but not terrible. The CPI number came in as expected, but the Leading Economic Indicators were a bit shy of expectations. Of course, the focus is still on what will occur in Greece over the weekend (seems like we’ve seen this movie before), as we wait for a deal to be agreed upon on Monday.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 45 points to close at 12,949. The S&P 500 was up 3 points to finish the day at 1361. Gold was down about $5 to close near $1723 and oil continued to climb, adding another $1.11 to close near $103.42. We continue to wait for the Dow to clear 13,000 and more importantly need the S&P 500 to get above 1370 before we get too excited about things. Never the less, we have had a good start to the year and it is ok to be happy about that.

Remember, Monday is a holiday and the markets will be closed. We’ll be back at it on Tuesday.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
