Natural Response To Earnings Today

Jul 20, 2017 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks were quiet today except for Home Depot , Lowes, Best Buy and Whirlpool  which were under siege after Amazon (yes, them again) announced a deal with Sears to sell Kenmore appliances online. Other than that, there was little direction and muted volatility.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 28 points to finish the day at 21,611. The S&P 500 was down a fraction to close at 2,473. Gold was up $1 to trade at $1,243 per ounce, while oil was down $.33 to trade at $46.73 per barrel WTI.

After the close we will get earnings releases from Microsoft, eBay and Visa, and tomorrow we get GE and Honeywell.  The market didn’t have much to say about today’s releases. Let’s see how tomorrow plays out.

Have a nice evening everyone.
