More Mixed Results as We Head Towards the Election

Oct 25, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Well, mixed results could basically define the whole week. Once again today we had mixed results for the market averages. We have also had mixed results in economic data, and mixed earnings results from corporate America. The stock market had a downward tilt to it this week, but not a lot of real damage was done.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 259 points to finish the day at 42,114. The S&P 500 was down 1 point to close at 5,808. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 103 points to close at 18,518. Gold was up $7 to trade at $2,756 per ounce, while oil was up $1.54 to trade at $71.73 per barrel WTI.

Remember, we get earnings reports from behemoths Alphabet, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon next week among many others. And of course, we are just a couple of weeks away from the election. It could be a volatile couple of weeks ahead. Stay buckled in.

Have a great weekend everyone.
