The Market’s On Spring Break

Mar 12, 2014 | Market Commentary

Friends

Another very quiet day of trading. After a bit of a selloff in the morning, stocks recovered to get to positive territory by lunch time, only to fade back into the red as the trading session wore on. Once again, there was not much in the way of economic news for traders to seize on, so trading was light and uninspired.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 11 points to finish the day at 16,339. The S&P was up a fraction to close at 1868. Gold was up $21 to trade at $1367 per ounce, while oil was down $1.80 to trade at $98.23 per barrel WTI.

Tomorrow provides the only real interesting data points as we get both Retail Sales numbers and the Weekly Jobless Claims number. Perhaps market participants will find something interesting in one or the other to act on. In the meantime it feels like the market is on Spring Break too.

Have a nice evening everyone.
