Well, here we go. We get earnings from Alphabet (Google) today after the closing bell, then we get Microsoft tomorrow and Amazon and Apple on Thursday. Amazingly the Nasdaq Composite Index is hitting an all-time high right as we get these earnings releases.
Though the Dow was lower today, both the S&P and the Nasdaq moved higher.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 154 points to finish the day at 42,233. The S&P 500 was up 9 points to close at 5,832. The aforementioned Nasdaq Composite Index was up 145 points to close at 18,712. Gold was up $28 to trade at $2,784 per ounce, while oil was down $.19 to trade at $67.19 per barrel WTI.
Remember, we also get the non-farm payroll number on Friday. It is expected to be muted, so anything hotter than expected could cause some bond market disruptions. Stay buckled up, the rest of the week should be interesting.
