Stocks seemed destined to drift aimlessly today, but the midday news that there was a ceasefire in the works in the Middle East helped spark a little rally in stocks. But with traders itching to get home and begin their Thanksgiving holiday (Friday is a half day of trading, and there won’t be much participation), volume was light and volatility was muted.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 48 points to close at 12,837. The S&P 500 was up 3 points to finish the day at 1391. Gold was up $5 to trade at $1729 per ounce, while oil, whipsawed by the Middle East news, wound up being up $.92 to trade at $87.67 per barrel WTI.
Let me just take this opportunity to let you know that with the Thanksgiving Holiday upon us, we want to thank you and make sure you know how much we appreciate you, our clients. You have entrusted us with the stewardship of your hard earned money, and we take that very serious and strive to make sure you receive the best attention and service that we can provide. We hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow and enjoy the time with your families. I will be around Friday morning if you need anything, but other than that have a great weekend, and be careful if you’re out there with all the crazies shopping on Friday.
