Happy New Year!

Dec 31, 2020 | Market Commentary

Friends

What a year! After the craziness that was 2020, it is not surprising that the market, and market participants, seemed just about out of gas as the finish line was crossed. But, stocks were able to rally late in the day to post a nice gain by the close. Five days in, with two trading sessions to go, the Santa Claus rally is intact. We’ll review 2020 next week in our quarterly outlook, but suffice it to say it was an amazing year in the markets as investors experienced both a bear and a bull market.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 196 points to close at 30,606. The S&P 500 was up 24 points to finish the day at 3,756. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 18 points to close at 12,888. Gold was up $8 to trade at $1,901, while oil was down $.02 to trade at $48.38 per barrel WTI.

We did it. We got through 2020. Let’s hope that good things come in 2021. After a year like this one, the world deserves a break. In the meantime, we here at CHJ want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year. We hope we have been a good partner and been able to provide some clarity and calmness through this tumultuous year. Enjoy the weekend, stay safe and we will be back with you to continue our journey next year (Monday).

Again, Happy New Year Everyone!!!!
