Fed Watch

Dec 17, 2013 | Market Commentary

Friends

As expected, traders were reluctant to do much before the release of the Fed statement and subsequent Bernanke presser tomorrow. Will the Fed announce a tapering schedule and how will the market react whether they do or not? It should be an interesting day. Today was anything but interesting. Stocks spent most of the day in negative territory, but never by much.

By the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 9 points to finish the day at 15,875. The S&P 500 was down 5 points to close at 1780. Gold was down $13 to trade at $1231 per ounce, while oil was down $.35 to trade at $97.13 per barrel WTI.

The action will be tomorrow afternoon after the Fed meeting ends. Whatever happens will set the tone for the last few trading sessions of the year. Should be an interesting day of trading tomorrow. We’ll let you know how it all transpires.

Have a nice evening everyone.
