Yes, the election is tomorrow and I will be glad when it is over and behind us, but I wanted to begin today’s note with a special “thank you” to Carolyn Ilse who is going to be leaving CHJ in a couple of weeks. Carolyn was integral in helping to get this company where it is today and we are sad to lose her. We are happy, though, that she was able to find a situation closer to home and she won’t have to spend four hours a day in a car (yes, quality of life matters). I wanted to give you all a heads up in case you wanted to say goodbye to Carolyn and wish her good luck. We will miss her.
As for the markets, traders seem to be in a holding pattern as the election is now upon us. What happens on Wednesday (assuming the election is decided) will be most interesting to watch. For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 19 points to close at 13,112. The S&P 500 was up 3 points to finish the day at 1417. Gold was up $9 to trade at $1684 per ounce, while oil was up $.93 to trade at $85.79 per barrel WTI.
Be sure to get out and vote tomorrow, if you haven’t already. No matter how things turn out, we’ll be here looking for opportunities. Since stocks have suffered recently, perhaps a post-election rally is in order.
Have a nice evening everyone. It’s almost over.
