Dow Slumps While Broad Market Advances To New Highs

Friends

With components Caterpillar and Boeing (for obvious reasons) dropping the ball with regards to their earnings reports this morning, the Dow Jones Industrial Average spent the day in negative territory. But, both the S&P and the Nasdaq were able to post healthy gains despite the disappointment of the Dow.

For the day, the Dow was down 79 points to close at 27,269. The S&P 500 was up 14 points to finish the day at 3,019. Gold was up $2 to trade at $1,424 per ounce, while oil was down $.94 to trade at $55.83 per barrel WTI.

The mixed bag of results continue on the earnings front, as does the mixed bag of stock reactions- thus the sort of stalemate we’ve seen since earnings season began. We’ll keep on our toes, though, because we have many big names soon to report. We’ll keep you apprised.

Have a nice evening everyone.
