Things got off to a shaky start this morning as crypto currencies were tumbling before the opening bell. But, after the market averages experienced some minor losses in early trading, crypto currencies rallied and the bulls stepped back into stocks. It was a modest move but at least the bulls didn’t give back yesterday’s big gains.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 68 points to finish the day at 33,945. The S&P 500 was up 21 points to close at 4,246. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 111 points to close at 14,253. Gold was down $6 to trade at $1,777 per ounce, while oil was down $.58 to trade at $73.08 per barrel WTI.
Old war horses like Apple, Amazon and Microsoft have been outperforming value and other growth companies in recent trading sessions. These names had been rather dormant this year, but seem to have found new life. We’ll see if that continues. In the meantime the bulls have tried to wrestle the ball away from the bears after last week. Let’s see if they can keep it.
Have a nice evening everyone.
