Stocks slumped in early trading as market participants still seem nervous about the possibilities of full blown trade wars. But as the trading session wore on, buyers appeared with Nasdaq recovering first then followed by the S&P and the Dow all working their way into positive territory.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 35 points to finish the day at 24,307. The S&P 500 was up 8 points to close at 2,726. Gold was down $11 to trade at $1,242 per ounce, while oil was down $.12 to trade at $74.03 per barrel WTI.
We have a shortened trading session scheduled for tomorrow as the markets close at 12:00 noon our time. Then of course markets are closed on Wednesday for the 4th of July. We do have a lot of economic data scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with the ADP private payroll number on Thursday along with weekly jobless claims PMI and ISM service sector numbers and the government non-farm payroll jobs report on Friday. We’ll be around tomorrow morning and then back at it on Thursday if you need us.
Have a nice evening everyone.
