Friends,
Traders (the few that are around today) shrugged off some lackluster domestic economic reports and took stocks higher as we enter the Christmas weekend. Santa did deliver us a nice little rally this week. It will be interesting to see if we can hold it into the New Year, but for now let’s just enjoy it. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 124 points to finish the week at 12,293. The S&P 500 was up 11 to close at 1265. Gold was down $3 to finish near $1607 and oil was up slightly to finish the day at $99.80 per barrel WTI. The S&P 500 got back into positive territory (1257 was last year’s close) for the year with just 4 trading days left.
More importantly, I want to take a second to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas from all of us at CHJ. Enjoy the special time with your loved ones and be sure to cherish every moment with them. We’ll be back at it on Tuesday, but for a few days we’ll forget about European debt and political wrangling at home and abroad.
Have a great Christmas weekend everyone!
