Friends
The bulls appear to be comfortably entrenched on the high ground once again. Stocks opened higher and added to their gains as the trading session wore on. Apple led the way reaching new highs as the major market averages posted gains of more than 1% for the day.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 515 points to close at 46,706. The S&P 500 was up 71 points to close at 6,735. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 310 points to close at 22,990. Gold was up $170 to trade at $4,383 per ounce, while oil was down $.06 to trade at $57.48 per barrel WTI.
Earnings season is in full force this week as we will hear from the likes of Netflix, Coca-Cola, Lockheed Martin, 3M, GM, Halliburton, Tesla, IBM, AT&T, Union Pacific, Honeywell, Ford, and Procter & Gamble, just to name a few. Next week we get reports from Visa, United Healthcare, Microsoft, Google, Meta, Caterpillar, Verizon, Boeing, Apple, Amazon, Lilly, Mastercard, Merck, Exxon, and Chevron. We are going to get a good look at corporate America’s report card this week and next. Are stocks appropriately priced for what we are about to discover? We will see.
