Stocks Continue To Push Quietly Higher

Feb 19, 2025 | Market Commentary

Friends

It was another somewhat uneventful day of trading, though the bulls were able to post modest gains by the close. Typically, the second half of February is often difficult for stocks, but there really is no sign of conviction either way at the moment.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 71 points to close at 44,627. The S&P 500 was up 14 points to finish the day at 6,144. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14 points to close at 20,056. Gold was up $1 to trade at $2,950 per ounce, while oil was up $.44 to trade at $72.29 per barrel WTI.

As I mentioned yesterday, though we have seen political headline after political headline, none have really been market movers in the past few days. The bulls continue to hold the high ground, while it appears that the bears are still plotting a new strategy. Let’s see how the rest of the week plays out.

Have a nice evening everyone.
