Friends
We will be hearing from retailers this week as earnings reports are due from the likes of Walmart, Target and TJX. We have seen a bit of a winners vs. losers with regards to retailers recently and I would expect that to continue with winners posting strong results while the losers continue to struggle. Stocks were mostly higher today with the Nasdaq bouncing back a little after last week’s drubbing.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 55 points to finish the day at 43,389. The S&P 500 was up 23 points to close at 5,893. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 111 points to close at 18,791. Gold was up $43 to trade at $2,613 per ounce, while oil was up $2.08 to trade at $69.10 per barrel WTI.
Let’s see if the bulls can get this thing back on track this week, or will the bears be able to build on last week’s weakness? We’ll let you know how the week play out.
Have a nice evening everyone.
Jim
