Buckle Up

Nov 4, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks got off to a shaky start for the week, but who can blame market participants for being a little on edge? We have a hotly contested national election tomorrow and the conclusion to a FOMC meeting on Wednesday. It’s hard to make any new decisions on your investments until there is some more clarity.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 257 points to finish the day at 41,794. The S&P 500 was down 16 points to close at 5,712. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 59 points to close at 18,179. Gold was down $2 to trade at $2,746 per ounce, while oil was up $2.07 to trade at $71.56 per barrel WTI.

It’s almost certain to be a volatile week for stocks. Let’s just take it one day at a time and see how it all plays out. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Jim
