Stocks Start Busy Week on the Positive Side

Oct 28, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks got off to a good start for the week, but remember we have a lot of corporate earnings reports to sort though and a jobs report on Friday. As I mentioned last week, we will see earnings from Alphabet, Microsoft, Apple, and Meta this week along with about a third of the S&P 500.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 273 points to finish the day at 42,387. The S&P 500 was up 15 points to close at 5,823. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 48 points to close at 18,567. Gold was down $1 to trade at $2,754 per ounce, while oil was down $3.97 to trade at $67.81 per barrel WTI.

Earnings, economic data, and a week away from an election. We have a lot on our plate. We’ll get you through it all. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
