Friends
We had another mixed session for the market averages as the Dow struggled while the S&P and the Nasdaq were able to register positive results. IBM and Honeywell were the biggest drags on the Dow 30 after both reported earnings. Besides that, stocks seem to be settling into that choppy pattern we thought might develop.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 140 points to close at 42,374. The S&P 500 was up 12 points to close at 5,809. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 138 points to close at 18,415. Gold was up $19 to trade at $2,748 per ounce while oil was down $.31 to trade at $70.46 per barrel WTI.
Remember, we get many of the big mega cap earnings reports next week. It almost feels like market participants want to see how the big growth companies do before making any new bets as we move towards the election and then the end of the year. First let’s see how this week finishes up tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
