Friends
What a week. After all was said and done stocks were mostly unchanged for the week. I bet you didn’t think you’d be reading that on Monday morning. We are still lower for the month because remember, we were down at the end of last week also. But given the way things looked on Monday morning I think market participants will take it and move forward.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 51 points to finish the day at 39,497. The S&P 500 was up 24 points to close at 5,344. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 85 points to close at 16,745. Gold was up $4 to trade at $2,467 per ounce, while oil was up $.85 to trade at $77.04 per barrel WTI.
Now if we can just keep some other part of the world from blowing up over the weekend maybe we can get back to focusing on the economy and corporate earnings next week. Next week we’ll get a look at Retail Sales, CPI and PPI. Stay tuned.
Have a great weekend everyone.
