Stocks Continue To Roll

Jul 15, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Obviously, the attempted assassination of former President Trump was quite disturbing this weekend. I’ll just leave it at that. The markets on the other hand continue to push higher as investors are becoming more and more convinced that the Fed will be lowering rates by September if not sooner.

As for today’s action, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 210 points to finish the day at 40,211. The S&P 500 was up 15 points to close at 5,631. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 74 points to close at 18,472. Gold was up $6 to trade at $2,426 per ounce, while oil was down $.29 to trade at $81.92 per barrel WTI.

As we roll into earnings season, stocks are priced pretty much for perfection. So far big bank earnings have been fine. Let’s see how the rest of Corporate America fares as this earnings season unfolds. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
